Around half the class was "foreign" but it didn't seem to occur to her that she was being offensive. I think part of the problem here is that many people in Taiwan are incapable of viewing themselves as xenophobic. They imagine that xenophobia could only exist in the West. <br /><br />I was born in the US. My wife was born in Taiwan. We have a three-year old daughter of this, as my professor explained, "problem children" set.
